The Old West created the stock horse, demanding a tough, enduring animal that could go for miles and herd the vast numbers of cattle in a bygone era. Not only was an athletic horse required, but one that could be completely trained in carrying out the everyday tasks of ranch life.

Cowtown Derby & Stock Horse Show has long been a favorite of ARCHA members in Canada! It's often thought of as the season kick off for major NRCHA Events in Alberta, and 2025 is not different!
At Cowtown Derby & Stock Horse Show significant added money await the 4- and 5-year-old horse and rider pairs. They are judged in three challenging events: herd work, rein work and fence (cow) work with the highest composite score earning the largest payout & associated prizes.
Cowtown Derby & Stock Horse Show offers classes in various levels of competition and divisions. From the most elite open riders in Canada, to those just starting out and every level in between.
In addition to the limited age event and the Spectacular classes, the show also offers 2 full NRCHA approved horses show shows.
Join us Saturday night for a delicious Steak Dinner at Silver Slate Steak House to celebrate the Derby Champions.
SATURDAY NIGHT STEAK DINNER at SILVER SLATE STEAK HOUSE
Register with your entries for a Steak Dinner Event after the conclusion of the Derby Fence Work. Tickets are $55 + GST each and include a fantastic dinner put on by Silver Slate Steak House.
